This delicious dish is well known in Olocuilta or Los Planes de Renderos. However, nowadays, they can be found on every corner of the country. They are a highly sought-after breakfast and afternoon snack. Additionally, pupusas have achieved international recognition.
They are a popular dish among foreigners, and pupuserías can be found in other parts of the world.
How to celebrate
Another important aspect is that they have their own day of celebration. In 2005, they were declared a national dish of El Salvador by legislative decree.
Therefore, every Sunday in November is commemorated with various activities dedicated to making pupusas.
Moreover, the dish is so popular that several music groups have created songs about it. These songs highlight its qualities and characteristics and celebrate Salvadoran culture in different parts of the world.
