Ingredients

2 cups of Maseca corn flour

2 cups of Grated cheese

½ cup of Lard or butter

½ cup of Cream

Water

1 cup of Shredded sweetened condensed milk

Preparation

Step 1 : In a bowl, place the maseca flour and knead until a homogeneous dough is obtained.

Step 2 : Add the cheese, cream, and lard, mixing well.

Step 3 : It’s important not to add too much water to prevent the mixture from becoming runny.

Step 4 : Next, grind the shredded sweetened condensed milk, panela, piloncillo, cinnamon, pepper, and clove until a powder forms.

Step 5 : This mixture is used to decorate the tustacas, although it is optional.

Step 6 : Once the dough and the sweetened condensed milk mixture are ready, take a portion of dough, roughly the size of a tablespoon, form a ball and flatten it to create a circular tortilla.

Step 7 : Place the tortilla in an oven-safe dish.

Step 8 : Sprinkle the shredded sweetened condensed milk with spices on the tortilla and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes, until the tustacas are golden and crispy, with a delicious flavor of sweetness and spices.

Step 9 : Once baked, the tustacas are ready to be enjoyed.
