El Salvadoran Meatballs

Ingredients

1 ½ pound of Beef picadillo

½ cup of Yellow onion, diced

¼ cup of Garlic, finely chopped

¾ cup of Green pepper, diced

2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons of Ground mustard

1 Egg

120 grams of Mint leaves

2 cups of Tomato sauce

3 Laurel leaves

1 cup of Chicken broth (or water)

1 pinch of Salt

1 pinch of Pepper

Preparation

Step 1 : To prepare the meatballs, in a bowl mix the ground meat, onion, garlic, green pepper, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, egg, salt, and pepper to taste.

Step 2 : Shape the mixture into meatballs of the same size, placing a mint leaf in the center of each, then set aside.

Step 3 : Preheat a skillet and cook the meatballs on both sides for 4 minutes, with the skillet half-covered.

Step 4 : Then, add the tomato sauce, chicken broth, and laurel leaves.

Step 5 : Cover again and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Step 6 : Reduce the heat and let simmer for another 9 minutes.

Step 7 : Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
