Ingredients

1 cup of Water

2 cups of Sugar

4 tablespoons of Butter

½ teaspoon of Vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1 : In a saucepan over moderate heat, stir the water, butter, and sugar until dissolved.

Step 2 : Then, continue cooking over low heat without stirring until soft, brittle strands form when a few drops are dropped into a cold water glass.

Step 3 : Pour the melcocha onto a greased tray or marble surface and let it cool so it can be handled.

Step 4 : Add the mint or vanilla and the food coloring drops.

Step 5 : With hands greased with margarine, stretch and fold the melcocha repeatedly until it reaches a creamy and nearly solid consistency.

Step 6 : Finally, cut the melcocha into small pieces or long bars.
