Ingredients

500 grams of All-purpose flour

250 grams of Lard

8 tablespoons of Sugar

1 tablespoon of Yeast

1 tablespoon of Baking powder

1 tablespoon of Vanilla

½ Panela caramelized sugar

1 pinch of Salt

Red food coloring

Preparation

Step 1 : On a clean, flat surface, place the all-purpose flour and add the lard, yeast, sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla.

Step 2 : Mix all the ingredients very well, gradually adding water and kneading until the desired consistency is achieved.

Step 3 : Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Step 4 : To prepare the sweet filling, grate the panela sugar and mix the sugar with the red food coloring.

Step 5 : Divide the dough into two portions and roll out each separately on a floured flat surface.

Step 6 : Take a baking mold and grease it all over.

Step 7 : Place the first layer of dough into the mold, making sure to stretch it well.

Step 8 : Then sprinkle the grated panela sugar and add the second layer of dough.

Step 9 : Finally, sprinkle the sugar mixture with the colorant.

Step 10 : Let the preparation rest for 30 minutes, then cut into rectangular pieces to shape the peperechas.

Step 11 : Bake for approximately 40 minutes, until they are ready.

Step 12 : Remove from the oven, take them off the baking trays, let them rest, and serve.
