This traditional, yet not very well-known Salvadoran atol, is one of the most delicious and highly nutritious.
The Marañón Seed Atol is unique in its class, prepared with toasted and ground seeds, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Marañón Seed Atol
Ingredients
½ pound of Marañón Seeds
½ liter of Milk
1 Cinnamon stick
1 Nutmeg
½ liter of Water
Sugar
1 pinch of Salt
Preparation
Step 1 : The Marañón seeds are toasted over low heat and blended with water until a fine mixture forms.
Step 2 : In a pot, bring the milk to a boil and add sugar, salt, cinnamon, and grated nutmeg.
Step 3 : Once they release their aroma, add the seed mixture and stir until it boils.
